Robert Scott was born in Macon, Georgia on June 22, 1931. He grew up with one brother and four sisters. He remains close to each of them to this day and has the greatest respect for all of them. Mom was a housewife, a wonderful cook, and his biggest fan at the ballpark. Robert attended Luther Williams School E.S. in Macon, Georgia, and Hudson High School. Mrs. Tracey, a teacher Robert remembers most, had an impact in his development as an individual. “She was one strict teacher.”

Robert’s dad worked for the railway express company. He was Robert’s inspiration - the very reason he played baseball. He brought Robert along in baseball - coached his first sand lot baseball team and taught him to throw a screwball to supplement his fastball. One day on the sand lot fields, Robert’s dad, Howard, told him that they had to be home by 7:30 and that he would have to strike out the first three batters in the 9th in order for them to make it on time. He did, and they were on their way.

RRobert Scott pitched for the New York Black Yankees for four years. One high point of his career was having had the opportunity to pitch to his baseball hero Buck Leonard. Mr. Leonard crushed a four-bagger.

Robert became a brick mason after his baseball career ended. He married Mae Pitts and together raised a family of six children.

Robert was a strong right-handed pitcher.  His baseball career spanned from 1941 to 1955:
